WHO DESIGNS THE CARS

Hot Wheels designers

The casting designer creates the shape of each Hot Wheels car: the body, the chassis and the proportions that later become the metal mold (the "casting") used at the factory.

The work starts with sketches and references from the real car or an original idea, moves through 3D modeling and prototypes, and has to balance accuracy, style and the demands of 1:64 production, such as running on the track and keeping parts durable.

The same casting can be used for many years, with new colors, wheels and decorations in each release. Below are the designers found in the catalog; click a name to see each person's background and cars.
