CASTING DESIGNER

Alton Takeyasu, Fraser Campbell

Background

Alton Takeyasu — Alton Takeyasu has worked at Mattel since 1991 and, before that, was a designer at Kenner Toys. Today he mainly designs character cars (Character Cars) in the Star Wars and Marvel lines and several action figure lines, and is also responsible for licensed entertainment properties and Mattel's own properties.

He has taught at the Otis College of Art and Design since 2003 and was inducted into the Model Car Hall of Fame in 2019.

Fraser Campbell — Fraser Lee Campbell, of British heritage, worked at Mattel (first at the UK office and then on the Hot Wheels design team in the US) until 2016; the wiki gives 2000 as the year he joined Hot Wheels, while another source cites 1998 as the start of his time at Mattel. He was lead designer for the Monster Jam and Power Rigs lines. His first annual design was the Maelstrom (2001); he is also associated with Fish'd & Chip'd, Lotus Esprit and Cockney Cab II, as well as Monster Jam trucks such as Grave Digger.

He left in 2016 for Hackrod, a company founded by Felix Holst, kept Campbell Design LLC, and, after Hackrod ended in 2020, returned to Mattel in June 2021.
