CASTING DESIGNER
Bob Lovejoy
Background
Robert B. Lovejoy designed Hot Wheels cars from 1971 to 1973. He was hired alongside Larry Wood and Paul Tam as one of the brand's earliest designers and is best remembered for the RRRumblers line; the wiki also credits him with work on the Hot Birds and Chopcycles lines.
An aviation enthusiast, he built his own aircraft and gliders, among them the Quicksilver. After leaving Mattel, he devoted himself solely to developing ultralight aircraft and hang gliders. He died in late 1982 in an accident during the test of an ultralight he had designed.
